Girls Will Be Eligible to Join Cub Scouts for the First Time
Following the Boy Scouts of America’s decision to allow girls to participate in Scouting, Cub Scout Pack 3322 will be expanding to include both boys and girls for the 2018-19 scouting year.
“Our Pack has always been focused on the entire family,” states Cubmaster Jason Katz. “We’ve always encouraged the entire family to participate in camp outs and activities. Now girls who enroll in Scouting and attend our Scouting events will receive the same recognition, awards, and opportunities as the boys.”
Pack 3322 will follow a structure recommended by Boys Scouts of America. There will be separate Dens (grade-level groups) for boys and girls with combined Pack (all grade levels) events.
Pack 3322 has two events scheduled in early May for families to learn more about Cub Scouts and activities for the upcoming year.
The first event is an open house on May 7 from 6-8PM at Evamere elementary school’s multi-purpose room. Families will have the opportunity to meet with current leaders and Scouts to learn more about upcoming events and to ask questions. (more info here)
The second event is a family picnic at Hudson Springs Park on May 12. Families will have the opportunity to participate in canoeing, hiking, a fishing derby, and a potluck picnic dinner. (more info here)
“In addition to the exciting calendar we are putting together for the next Scout year, we’ve got a lot of activities planned for the summer,” states Katz. “Day camp, camping at the Akron Zoo, biking the Cuyahoga Valley National Park tow path, and attending professional sporting events are just a few of our summer plans.”
