On Friday, November 22nd our Pack will spend the night at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.  Please arrive by 6:45 pm on Friday; the Program ends at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 23rd.  Planned activities include zoo-related fun, including a behind-the-scenes animal encounter.  While participating in the overnighter’s activities, Wolf Scouts will complete some adventure requirements (Call of the Wild:1 and 3; Howling at the Moon:1; and Finding Your Way:3 and 4), and Bear Scouts will complete adventure requirements 1-4 for Fur, Feathers, and Ferns.  We will be sleeping in the Reinberger Homestead building at the Zoo (no tents required).

Children must be at least 6 years old to participate.

Scouts should wear their Class Bs on Friday (over top sweatshirts, if applicable).

The  itinerary:

  • 6:45 pm last arrival time (park in the Lion Lot (follow arrows to Zoo Administration; drive over the crosswalk and past the Zoo’s main gate; look for the lot on the right labeled Lion Lot (which is directly behind the ticket booth across from the Zoo’s main entrance).  Once parked, grab your overnight gear and cross the street toward the Zoo’s main gate.  Do NOT go in the Main Gate, but instead follow the sign towards the Zoo Administration Building.  Look for the Zoo Administration and Education Building next to the Zoo’s main gate.  Go in there and meet the rest of the Pack and the Zoo’s overnight staff.  See here for printable visual aids.
  • 7:00 pm the program begins
  • 10:00 am Saturday programming ends

The Zoo cannot accommodate a participant who need to arrive or leave between the hours of 7:30 pm on Friday and 7:30 am on Saturday.  The program occurs rain or shine.  Unless the weather is severe, the program will continue with the outdoor portions of the program, so be sure to pack appropriate clothing (sleepwear, change of clothes, toiletries, outdoor garments, and comfortable closed-toe shoes) and a sleeping bag and pillow (the Zoo will provide each participant with an air pad).  The program includes walking, bending, and climbing stairs.

Registration will close on Monday, November 11th.  We only have a finite number of spots reserved, so it your family really wants to go, don’t wait.

The program costs $42 per participant.  This also includes admission to the Zoo and Rainforest on Saturday, an evening snack, and a continental breakfast.  Unless medically necessary, no food is allowed to be brought in.
