During winter break, Pack 3322 will have its December Pack outing. Specifically, on Saturday, December 30, we will ice skate and play broomball at the Kent State University Ice Arena at 650 Loop Road, Kent, OH 44242. Please arrive by at least 9:30, so that you can take advantage of the whole hour of rink time from 9:50-10:50. We have reserved both rinks for the hour. The larger rink will be for ice skating; the other will be for broomball. The snack bar and ice-skate rental ($3 per hour) will also be available. No outside food or drink is allowed. Park in the lot marked Ice Rink Parking (in front of the rink). There should be plenty of parking there. If you park elsewhere, be aware that some lots require KSU permits.
All participants are encouraged to bring helmets and personal ice skates (if you have them). If you rent, we suggest you rent a full size smaller than your regular shoe size (and remember to get there early to rent and lace up).
Those playing broomball should bring hats, gloves, tennis shoes (it is played wearing tennis shoes, NOT skates), and snow pants (or at least “soft” pants; avoid jeans). KSU is not going to Zamboni the broomball rink prior to our arrival, which will help with traction. We will likely have two sessions for broomball (one for younger participants and one for older). How we break it up and who goes during what time will be decided once we crunch the numbers once registration is closed. Regardless if you are ice skating or playing broomball first, we encourage all to arrive early and rent your skates before 9:50, so you don’t spend time renting skates when you could be skating. Depending on popularity, we may need to limit how many people can be on the smaller / broomball rink.
Registration will close on December 28.
Siblings, parents, and friends can skate / broomball too, just make sure the Pack has a medical form on file for each participant. As with all Cub Scout events, at least one parent/guardian should accompany each Scout (no drop offs).
